Architectural Shingles, Tile, Metal

Architectural roofing shingles, also known as laminated or dimensional shingles, are among the highest quality roofing products made. Traditionally, they are composed of a heavy fiberglass mat base and ceramic-coated mineral granules that are tightly embedded in carefully refined, water-resistant asphalt. Architectural shingles are approximately 50% thicker than 3-tab, giving them a more three-dimensional look — which is why they are also called dimensional shingles.

FLAT / LOW-SLOPE ROOFING

A roof that is nearly flat or moderately pitched is known as a flat roof or a low-slope roof. No roof should be completely flat because it needs to have at least a small slope in order to drain. Modern low-slope roofs or flat roofs often use a continuous membrane covering which can better resist pools of still water. These membranes are applied as a continuous sheet that is bonded together with heat welding or adhesives. More expensive options use sealed metal copper or tin. These metal roofs have soldered interlocking systems that make up the roof.
